Understanding our nation's progress toward widely accepted goals is imperative in an age where most of us know far too little about the problems and opportunities we face.

What difference will SUSA make?

The State of the USA (SUSA) expects to attract millions of website users, helping them to measure our country’s progress and to find information they need to make decisions about voting, community involvement and civic activism.  Data on the website may also help them by offering some context for more personal matters like starting a new career or moving to a new region.

Most importantly, SUSA will seek to assist decision makers as they strive to be more responsive and effective. It can be a valuable tool for people to evaluate the impact of specific policies or strategies. With wide acceptance, SUSA aims to become a trusted source of reliable information and a shared frame of reference for public dialogue throughout the nation.

SUSA’s website will include an international context as well.  It will incorporate data that Americans can use to compare the United States to other nations.  SUSA's impact will increase as audiences at home and abroad learn more about conditions in this country and are able to gain a shared understanding about this country’s progress.
